Universem, les PME d’abord, les gros clients ensuite

Logo UniversemHubert de Cartier est l’un des habitués du Betagroup Coworking à Bruxelles. A raison d’une fois par semaine. Pourtant son entreprise Universem, spécialisée dans le SEO et le SEM, elle, est basée à Gembloux. Alors que lui-même habite à Bruxelles.

« Promotion des applications mobiles, acquisition clients online et optimisation de trafic sont quelques-uns de nos services de pointe », peut-on lire sur le blog d’Universem. Des services fort demandés pour celui qui veut faire du business sur Internet. « Et comme ils sont forts demandés, il y a déjà beaucoup de monde sur la place de Bruxelles, explique Hubert de Cartier. Nous avions acquis pas mal d’expérience en référencement en créant en 2007 une start-up de ventes de cadeaux d’entreprise, Articadeau. Nous avons décidé de rediriger nos efforts. » En 2010 est donc né Universem.

Quand on lui demande pourquoi il s’est installé en Wallonie, le fondateur répond très simplement. « Au-delà du fait que mon associé habite, lui, dans le sud du pays, nous avons décidé de ne pas nous installer à Bruxelles où il y a beaucoup de concurrence. Nous avons privilégié la voie des petites entreprises pour commencer. Nous étions persuadés qu’il y avait du business à faire auprès des PME wallonnes. »

Il semble cette voie a été la bonne. La petite start-up, qui aura deux ans cette année, s’est vite fait un nom. En Wallonie et à Bruxelles d’ailleurs. « Notre chiffre d’affaire augmente de 50% minimum tous les trimestres, ajoute Hubert de Cartier. Nous engageons pour répondre à la demande qui afflue. »

C’est qu’Universem touche de plus en plus de gros clients, comme RTL New Media ou Carrefour Mobile. « C’est ce que nous escomptions lorsque nous avons lancé notre société, poursuit l’ancien analyste financier chez Citibank. Mais on ne pensait pas que cela irait si vite. Visiblement, les gens sont contents de notre travail. Cela fait plaisir. »

Le cas Universem est un bel exemple qui pourrait être à suivre par bon nombre de petites entreprises qui s’implantent d’office à Bruxelles pour viser de gros clients et en snobant les PME. Petites et moyennes entreprises qui sont pourtant un marché important car elles sont l’écrasante majorité des entreprises en Belgique. Si elles sont un peu à la traîne, elles arrivent les unes après les autres sur Internet. Beaucoup de nouveaux clients à séduire.
